Report
* We have received reports that Bulk carrier KMAX EMPEROR (IMO: 9477426) came into contact with the bow of bulk carrier TRUE MARINER (IMO: 9599822) whilst at anchor off the coast of Gujarat, India on 11 September 2026.
* It is reported that the anchor chains of both vessels became entangled as a consequence of the collision and the KMAX EMPEROR sustained a breach to its port-quarter/stern area and subsequently experienced an ingress of water.
* Reportedly, as a consequence of the water ingress, the vessel developed a list to port and began to sink, initially dragging TRUE MARINER due to the entangled anchor chains. The crew of TRUE MARINER successfully released their anchor chain, manoeuvred clear and assisted in the rescue operation.
* We understand that the local port authority, coast guard and port tugs attended the scene to assist the vessels and support the emergency response operations.
* It is therefore possible that General Average, Salvage and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this incident.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us if you are concerned with any cargo on board the vessel at the time of the incident so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
