* We have received reports that fully cellular container ship, ESCAPE, experienced a steering gear failure whilst navigating in a position off Vlieland Island, Netherlands on 7 April 2021.

* The vessel was later taken under tow by tug towards Rotterdam for inspection and repairs. It has been confirmed that salvage services are being rendered to the vessel by professional salvors on Lloyd's Open Form terms.

* Consequently, Salvage Security may be demanded from a source in the UK and W K Webster will be able to assist in this respect. Security provided by W K Webster is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd's and is a widely preferred option by professional Salvors.

* It is also possible that shipowners will declare General Average. If so, General Average security may be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are also likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* We recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
