************ GENERAL AVERAGE SECURITY REQUIRED **************
* We have received reports that containership D ANGELS (IMO: 9252357), experienced an engine failure off Cochin, India, on 26 May 2025.
* It is reported that the crew were unable to effect repairs to the engine, hence the vessel was initially taken under tow to Jaigarh port, India where the convoy arrived safely on 21 June 2025. However, shipowners now report that the port is unable to accommodate the vessel. Consequently, the vessel has now been taken under tow towards to Jebel Ali for inspection and repairs.
* Shipowners have declared General Average as a consequence of the casualty. Hence, General Average security will be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard. We are currently liaising with the nominated Average Adjusters as to the terms of the security to be provided.
* We have already been instructed by a number of Cargo Insurers and may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any investigative costs which may need to be incurred. A Hull and Machinery Surveyor has already been retained to investigate the cause of the engine failure at the appropriate time.
* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
